I am the Director of Nursing at the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home and Director of Patient Services at Grove House Hospice. In my current roleI am responsible for the development of Hospice at Home services into the St Albans and Harpendenarea of Hertfordshire.
Qualifying as a nurse in 1975, having trained at University College Hospital in London my career took me initially into midwifery, paediatrics and theatre nursing where I gained my first sisters post. I was introduced to palliative care in 1988, when I joined the newly formed Iain Rennie Hospice at Home working in many nursing roles within the organisation, these reflected the evolving nature of both the organisation and palliative care itself.
Currently I am undertaking a Masters Degree in Hospice Leadership sponsored by help the Hospice. I am the network liaison lead for palliative care for the Mount Vernon Cancer Network and became Chair of the National Forum for Hospice at Home in September 2009.
