Rebecca O'Donnell

I am the Hospice at Home team leader for St Peter's Hospice in Bristol. I have over twenty years nursing experience working in different settings, accident and emergency, GP practice nursing and then the hospice setting.

I started worked at in the local hospice Fairhavens in 1999 and from the beginning I found it immensely rewarding as I was able to care for the patients in a way I was trained.  I gained a diploma in palliative care whilst working there, and now studying for a degree.

I moved to the Cotswolds in 2004 and worked for two Hospice at Home teams, one being in a rural location and the other, St Peter’s Hospice which covers both a rural area and a busy city. I am responsible for a team of qualified and unqualified nurses providing 24 hour nursing and support for patients and carers in the last week of life . We are supported by a community team of clinical nurse specialists, social workers, palliative care consultants, physio and occupational therapists, bereavement support and a 24hour advice line

I joined the forum in June 2009  hoping to help other hospice at home services and promote the excellent services they provide.

RGN, Dip Palliative Care.
