My current role is Community Palliative Care Team Manager for St Giles Hospice, Staffordshire who are providers of specialist palliative care services; St Giles have had a presence in the local community since 1983. The role leads and manages two service arms – community clinical nurse specialists and hospice at home – as both services work in synergy.
I have worked as a qualified nurse for over 20 years – predominantly in a palliative care environment, but also have a district nurse qualification/experience and a breadth of hospital experience.
I strive to ensure that an excellent quality of care is delivered to local patients and their families and I am strongly committed to ongoing personal and professional development. I enjoy teaching, research/evidence based practice and project management.
I completed a Masters in Professional Studies – Healthcare in 2007, the same year as having my first article published. I have also been fortunate enough to speak in 2001 at an International Symposium for MND, held in San Francisco, USA.
I have been associated with the NFFH@H committee since January 2008 – and became Vice Chair in September 2009. I thoroughly enjoy this opportunity – one I can wholeheartedly recommend to others for the future!
