I moved from district nursing to palliative quite some years ago, firstly working as a community clinical nurse specialist, then setting up a day hospice service, eventually becoming director of nursing and moving to EllenorLions hospice in 2003
I originally was co-opted onto the forum to participate in the research project funded by the forum when Gunn Grand was preparing to undertake the first phase. I have continued to be part of the research project group and work alongside Gail Ewing on site of one of the participating hospice at home services. In the past I produced the newsletter and have helped source sponsorship for the annual conferences.
When I first joined the committee I was employed as a lecturer practitioner and then head of education, within that role I supported and provided training for nurses and volunteers involved in the hospice at home service.
I have recently taken up a new post as associate director at Pilgrims hospice with a remit of implementing a rapid response hospice at home team. This project has a dedicated research element in conjunction with the university of Kent.
